"I have been an employee with Continental Airlines for 16 years. When I began to travel I saw the true poverty in our world. I felt the need to give back what I could. For the first few years I traveled to orphanages in The Ukraine. I have been going down to Honduras 1-3 times a year for the past 9 years.

Hi my name is Ellie and I live in Laguna Niguel California. I first was introduced to the children in the orphanage about 5 years ago. I traveled down with Jacquie and a group of her friends from Continental. She had been doing the trips for a few years and she asked me to join her. I was excited to go hearing all of the stories she shared and we always traveled well together. Her and I have seen a lot of this world together being we are both in the travel industry. One of the first stops on the three day mission was this orphanage. I knew that day I was changed forever.

I befriended Jacquie Dupras about ten years ago. I became familiar with her trips to San Pedro Sula very quickly. After going with her in 2007 it was easy to understand her enthusiasm and passion for the people. After going to the orphanage, I too had that same enthusiasm and passion. These are children who steal your heart with a look and your love with a smile. They have so little but give so much. I may be a native of St. Louis, but it very easy to fall in love with the children of the orphanage in San Pedro Sula and want to make them part of your life.

A few years ago, I was invited by my cousin Jacquie to accompany her on one of her trips to Honduras. After seeing the poverty in the country and meeting the children in the orphanage, I was forever changed; the things that many Americans take for granted, such as a stable roof over our head, medical care when we need it, and an over-abundance of food are things that many Hondurans can only wish for. I realized on that trip that it is truly pot-luck who we are born to, and that it was my calling to help the children in the orphanage anyway I can.
